NCLB and Title I Considerations

Anchorage School District utilizes a tiered system of action plans for all schools.

The No Child Left Behind Act mandates that Title I schools not making satisfactory at AYP Level 2 must submit School Improvement Plans that incorporate parent and community involvement. Other levels use different reporting regimen; however, all schools in the district must submit a school action plan for district accountability.

If your school is in the Title I program, certain obligations are mandated for implementing and reporting school efforts for parent and community involvement. Since this process is done on a school-wide basis, you will likely be working with other great minds to make the program work.

According to the Zerena Clendaniel, ASD NCLB Teacher and Paraprofessional Support staff, all levels of school action plans in the district are created and implemented at the school administration level and may or may not involve teachers in the planning phases.
